Who we are

Farscope is built and operated by KinoByte Oy, Finland. KinoByte Oy is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

This policy covers the Farscope website, the waitlist, and the Farscope Android app and supporting services.

What data we process and why

Website and waitlist

Our hosting and security providers process ordinary request data, such as IP address and browser or network information, as needed to deliver and protect the website. Farscope uses a country code derived from the request to show regional pricing. We do not store that country code in our own waitlist records unless you choose to join the waitlist.

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, country code, broad region, launch-tier classification, and invitation-eligibility status. We use this information to send launch and early-access updates and to manage regional availability. We do not store your IP address in the waitlist record.

Farscope app and service

Farscope is accountless by design. The app does not require a Farscope username, password, email address, Google sign-in, or Apple sign-in. To make devices work together securely, Farscope processes pseudonymous operational data such as Group and device identifiers, device role and credential state, signaling and connection metadata, network address information needed to establish connections and prevent abuse, push-notification delivery identifiers, and security or rate-limit state.

For the remote trial, Farscope keeps Group-level trial state such as the trial start, remote usage consumed, the 30-day window, and whether the allowance has been exhausted. For Owner Pass, Farscope processes purchase and entitlement state needed to verify, grant, restore, and revoke the entitlement. Purchase tokens may be sent to Google Play for verification; Farscope is designed to retain a one-way token fingerprint rather than the raw purchase token in durable entitlement records.

Video, audio, and recordings

Recordings and clips are stored on the camera phone. Farscope does not use cloud video storage for your recordings. Live viewing connects devices directly whenever possible. If the network prevents a direct connection, an encrypted relay can carry the live stream in transit without storing the video or audio content.

We do not sell personal data, use advertising pixels, or build advertising profiles from Farscope activity.

Legal basis for processing

We use consent for waitlist and launch-marketing communications. You can withdraw that consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting privacy@farscope.app.

We process app operational and purchase data where it is necessary to provide the service or a purchase you request, and we may rely on our legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, service reliability, and protecting Farscope and its users. We process information where required by law, including applicable accounting, tax, consumer-protection, or security obligations.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal, and it does not affect processing that relies on another lawful basis.

Service providers and recipients

Brevo processes waitlist contact data on our behalf. Brevo states that its database hosting is located within the European Union. We use Brevo under its applicable data-processing terms.

Vercel hosts the Farscope website and may process request and network information needed to serve the site. The country code used for regional website pricing is supplied by the hosting layer.

Cloudflare provides bot protection for the waitlist and backend infrastructure used for signaling, connection security, rate limiting, and encrypted relay connectivity. Turnstile processes browser and device signals needed to distinguish people from automated traffic and does not receive the contents of your waitlist form fields as part of the Turnstile challenge.

Google provides Android distribution and Google Play Billing services. Purchase information needed for Owner Pass verification is exchanged with Google Play. Android push notifications may also use Google or Firebase and other notification-delivery infrastructure as necessary to deliver a notification to the device.

We do not sell or rent personal data. We disclose data to service providers only as needed to operate, secure, support, or bill for Farscope, or when required by law.

How long we keep data

Waitlist information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, until the waitlist purpose has been completed and we no longer need it, or until we decide not to continue the relevant waitlist program.

Pseudonymous app operational records are kept only as long as needed to operate the Group, maintain security and recovery state, enforce the remote trial, or provide the service. Purchase, entitlement, revocation, fraud-prevention, accounting, or security records may need to be retained longer where necessary to protect entitlement integrity or meet legal obligations.

Recordings stored on the camera phone are controlled by the user and are not retained by Farscope as cloud recordings.

Your rights under GDPR

Where the GDPR applies to our processing of your personal data, you may have the following rights:

• Right of access: you can ask us what personal data we hold about you
• Right to rectification: you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure: you can ask us to delete your data at any time
• Right to restriction: you can ask us to stop processing your data while keeping it stored
• Right to data portability: you can ask us to provide your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent to processing at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
• Right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests where the law gives you that right

To exercise a right, email privacy@farscope.app. Because the app is accountless, some backend records are pseudonymous and may not be directly linked to your email or identity; we may need a relevant device or Group identifier to locate them. We will respond without undue delay and normally within one month, subject to any extension allowed by law.

Cookies and tracking

Farscope does not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, advertising pixels, or behavioral-tracking cookies on this website.

Cloudflare Turnstile processes security signals in the browser to protect the waitlist from bots. Depending on security configuration, Cloudflare may use strictly necessary security mechanisms such as short-lived identifiers or clearance cookies. These are used for security, not advertising.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the service, including encrypted network transport, authenticated device access, bot protection, rate limiting, and access controls around backend and billing systems.

If a personal data breach triggers a notification duty under the GDPR, we will notify the competent supervisory authority within the required timeframe and notify affected individuals where the law requires it.

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify waitlist subscribers by email. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
